Crisp and Clean in Tahoe

Now is a beautiful time to go to Lake Tahoe! It is gorgeous; the air is refreshing, the water is crisp, and the scenery is beautiful.

I've been to many fabulous weddings at the lake, and this was no exception, other than a few in a good way. The weather was perfect. This particular one was at a family estate, but most of the time people simply rent out the property, so you too can have a fabulous Lake Tahoe wedding.

A few of my usual recommendations were in effect: charter shuttle bus, accomodations in town, and totally pro vendors. All top notch and necesarry for a fool proof out of town event.

I'll get to my fav unusual stand outs.

Gift bags. If you've been to a child's party lately, you'll know that it's customary for the party giver to have gift bags for the attendees. These bags usually have treats such as candy, maybe some cheap toys or party favors. The gift bags at this party were a step up and included such things as non-alcoholic drinks for rehydrating after the event, snacks for munching on your way back to town, home made goodies from secret family recepies, and a few other personal items (mints, candies, etc..). Very thoughtful.

Another stand out, although it's not the first time I've seen this but I don't think I've written about it here, was the music/entertainment. As you know I'm a fan of live music at such events. This event not only had a live band for the dancing portion of the evening, not only a string quartet for the ceremony and dinner, but a third group (an acoustic guitar duo) for some lighter sing alongs by the campfire at the water line of the lake! And boy did that go over well. For those who were not quite ready to call it a night (including the happy couple) this was a perfect way to wind it down. I could go on and on about it, but I think you get the idea. This is also a good time to hydrate before going back to town, or finish yourself off before stumbling to the shuttle. It's your choice because the thoughtful couple (you or your planner) took care of the details!

It goes without mentioning the benefits of holding your ceremony at a beautiful out of town location, but I'll mention it a little anyway. Your guests (and you if you choose to hang around) get the benefit of coming into town early or staying after to enjoy the lake (or the mountain ski resorts in the winter) and all of its recreational activities.

Do it. No one will ever forget it.
