It's been a while since I've spent time in very central California, and I'm happy to see that some parts are still very alive and kicking with a vibrant and diverse nightlife! Enough of that...on to dinner...
Let's start it off with some maza then launch into kabobs. WAIT! What is 'maza' you ask? Typically known as a middle-eastern appetizer, occasionally made into an entire meal. What are kabobs? I hope you didn't ask that, although you may have scrunched your face in wonder what role these played at a wedding, as this may be unusual. Let me tell you, this is a fabulous idea. Best cooked barbeque style (in my opinion, of course) you can pile on small amounts of an assortment of foods - anything from meats (steak, chicken, pork, even fish!) to any vegetable you can think of, most commonly bell peppers, onions, etc...even fruit, pinapple being my fav! Remarkably filling as well, keeping your food costs to a minimum still serving fantastic foods, and keeping it light on the heavy fillers insuring a lasting good time.
Just add a little beverage and perhaps a jazz band to your maza and you have set the stage for a fabulous social hour! Afterwards serve up your kabobs with sides - rice, potatoes, whatever - and fill it in with a little table red & white.
After dinner, party it up with the band, have a little cake and bev'y break, strike up the band one more time, then it's off to the after party (which of course has a different meaning depending on your role in the big event, if you know what I mean)!
Oh the good times in central Cali.
